View Before & After Cases

In severe adolescent cases and in non-growing patients (adults), a combined approach of surgery and orthodontics may be recommended to correct a bite problem. This type of treatment involves coordination of treatment with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon – a specialist in the correction of jaw deformities.

Why should I consider a surgical orthodontic approach to my problem?

The answer falls into two broad categories:

  • The severity of the malocclusion is so great to make orthodontic correction of the bite virtually impossible.
  • The correction of the bite through orthodontic means alone would compromise functional goals or be detrimental to facial esthetics.

After analysis of your clinical findings and records, Dr. Bilodeau will discuss your treatment options with you during consultation and cover the pros and cons of various treatment alternatives.
